War Attack Tactics:
Getting those stars, gaining those cups, knowing your armies is key! Here's some basic attacking tips in order:
- Lure the enemy clan castle troops - this involves placing a few barbs down near the clan castle to get the defending troops out! NOTE - the stronger troops come out last, so make sure ALL troops have been lured
- Lure enemy troops to a corner by placing a single barb to attract them a few times. Once in the corner place a CIRCLE of archers around them - to take them all out - especially wizards & valks!
- Focus the next part of your attack on the most dangerous defence, for example if you're using air troops - take the air defence out. Use giants, wall breakers, backed up by archers or wiz. OR request hogs or balloons in your CC.
- Once a key defence area has been destroyed send in the full clean up army.... its a good idea to spread them out - giant bombs can take out a whole group of troops in one go!
- For lower town halls HEAL SPELL is great - use it to keep the donated hogs / balloons alive as long as possible. RAGE & HEAL are great with dragon raids
War Armies - what to use at different town halls:
Town Hall 7:
At this level dragons rule! As a town hall 7 if you have lvl 2 drags, heal and rage spells with a few hogs or balloons in clan castle most raids against town hall 7 opponents will be 3 stars. You will also be able to take on lower level town hall 8's especially if they have under developed air defences. The key tactic is to use your clan castle troops to take out one air defence. Then place dragons as close to the other air defences as possible - but not too bunched up. Heal & rage when needed. If you have the barb king, he can be used to distract archer towers near the end of the raid.

Town Hall 8:
This is where the range of possible attacks really opens up. Dark Troops now play a key part in the armies.

- Mass hog raids work well against other town hall 8's. The army is often made up of two thirds hogs, a few barbs to lure the clan castle troops, a kill squad (a combination of high damage and distracting troops - wizards, archers, barbs, witches and sometimes a couple of minions), to take down the enemy troops and heroes if possible. Finally your clean up troops, wizards, archers and / or minions.
- Golem based armies. This is a great time to learn some of the strongest attack strategies in the game. Golems are used as a 'tank' for your high damage troops. The Golems draw the fire while Wizards, Pekkas, Witches and their skellies do the damage. The focus of this attack is always the town hall, so wall breakers are used to break into the core, wizards clear away outer buildings so that there is a 'funnel' for your big troops to enter the centre. Rage spells are used to keep the damage high and fast, with heal spells to keep units up, and finally a jump spell to exit the core to secure the 100%

At this level you are able to use the same armies as a town hall 8, but with the addition of the queen, and the extra troop numbers your attacks become very strong. There is one new war army that becomes viable at town hall 9 - the Lava Hound based attacks. Max your balloons, level up your minions and lava hounds, bring rage spells and possibly a heal or lightening and you can take on some maxed out opponents. Between 2-4 Lava hounds are used, backed up by balloons, and minions. The target is the town hall, and then hopefully onto the 3 star. Lava hounds 'tank' for the balloons, which once raged do massive damage, minions then act as the clean up. Heroes can be deployed at the end of the raid to get the last few % - or near the beginning of the raid to take out an air defence.
